Why Background Checks?

We background check volunteers for one big reason: people matter—especially kids, students and vulnerable adults .
It’s not because we don’t trust you (we already let you hold babies and snacks). It’s about creating a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.

Think of it like a seatbelt—you don’t expect anything to go wrong, but it’s good to have protection in place.

All of our volunteers 18 years of age and older are background checked.
